Interns Wanted!
Research Internship
Are you passionate about environmental protection? Are you thinking about pursuing a career in the environmental nonprofit sector? TeachingGreen, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, is seeking interns to help us create a culture of sustainability in our schools, neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities.
Founded in 2007, the mission of TeachingGreen is to enable a sustainable future for life on Earth through comprehensive and empowering environmental education for all. We offer programs and resources for adults, including a quarterly e-newsletter, a Facebook page posted with periodic green-living tips, and The Green Life: A Guide to Sustainable Living in Los Angeles, a 64-page guide for those seeking to reduce the environmental impact of their personal and professional lives.
We also offer programs for school kids and are now working on a new program for preschoolers and early elementary students. Growing Up Green TOTS, currently in its pilot phase, launched in September 2013, and is in full swing in four classrooms at the preschool run by the South Bay Adult School Parent Education Program in Manhattan Beach, CA. Through the pilot, 78 kids – and their parents – are already enjoying the benefits of a greener and healthier classroom, while learning about reducing, reusing, recycling, composting and other important principles of green living.
We are currently seeking interns to help us with this brand new program. We need your help to make the Growing Up Green TOTS program the best that it can be, so that we can help teachers all across the country change the culture in their classrooms from one of waste to one of conservation. Specifically, we need help with curriculum development, classroom presentations, outreach and fundraising.
If you agree that we will not be able to solve our environmental problems without a societal shift in attitudes about the way we use natural resources, then please join us. You’ll get some great hands-on experience, meet and work with others who share your passion for the environment, and get the gratification of knowing your efforts are helping to shape the minds of future generations to come.
